9 Pocketing
A very good quality cotton cloth intended for pockets, but used for many domestic purposes. Usually 2 & 2 twill weave in a fine reed, and made from super quality yarns. As a rule the cloth is sold in the loom state or with a soft finish. About 36-in., 100 yards, 120 ends and 80 picks per inch, 36's warp, 40's weft. Another standard style is woven in the 1 & 3 weft twill, 30-in., 80 yards, 52 ends and 130 picks per inch, 2/32's warp, 20's weft. Pocketing cloths are also made from jute and linen yarns but in plain weave and many weights. Cotton velveteens and heavy cotton cloths with a nap finish are also used. -
10 Madras
A very light-weight shirting fabric, plain weave, with narrow coloured warp stripes in either silk or mercerised cotton. Usually made from very good quality yarns, such as 60's warp and 60's weft, both Egyptian, and 2/120's mercerised stripes, with about 116 ends and 88 picks per inch, in widths 27-in. to 34-in. and 52-in. Many cloths are sold as " Madras," but the above-described is the only true one (see also Book Harness Muslin) -

Variety of Upland cotton grown in North Carolina. The staple is considered of very good quality, measuring from 28 to 32 mm., the lint being less than 30 per cent. It is an excellent long-staple variety for upland. -

A superior cotton fabric for use as a waist cloth in Gujerat, Kandesh, and other parts of India. Manufactured in Ahmedabad. Actually a very good quality muslin. -
17 Cuban Hemp
Strong, smooth fibre, yielded by the leaves of the Furcraea cubensis of Central and South America. The fibre is of very good quality and is similar to sisal hemp. -
18 Drap Royal
A very good quality French dress fabric, made of organzine warp and worsted weft in twill weaves. It is light in weight. -
19 Gypsy Cloth
A plain weave cotton cloth usually in cream shades and raised face finish, and used for sportswear, tennis, boating, etc. It is made in various widths, 33-in., 45-in. and 54-in. and about 54 ends and 60 picks per inch, 32's T., 16's W. It is a very good quality flannelette. -
20 Nuns' Veiling
A fine, plain weave fabric, used for blouses, dyed many shades. Made 60-in. wide, 44 ends and 46 picks per inch, 48's/60's worsted yarns of very good quality. Better qualities than the foregoing are also made.
